Youth Issues the Steering Committee rates as highest need in Fauquier and Loudoun counties.

1. Substance Abuse
2. Internet safety
3. Bullying
4. School drop out/poor performance
5. Poverty/Hunger/Teen pregnancy
6. Depression/Suicide

We have blended the above issues into four main focus areas that we would like to support with funding.  If you have an idea that fits into one of these areas then we want to SEE YOUR GRANT REQUEST!!!!

Four Main Focus Areas:

The Steering Committee of teen grant-makers will consider projects that focus on one or more of the four target areas:

1.  Assisting the Less Fortunate:

Supporting ideas to aid the needs of children and families.  Key areas of interest are those that provide food, clothing and shelter.

2.  Promoting Positive and Healthy Lifestyles:

Supporting ideas that promote positive and healthy influences.  Key areas of interest are internet safety; suicide prevention and teen depression: eating disorders, stopping substance abuse and bullying; road safety; and healthcare/teen pregnancy.

3.  Addressing Educational Improvements:

Supporting ideas for keeping kids in school; developing student potential and encouraging peer motivation.

4.  Maintaining and Improving our Environment:

Supporting ideas for community clean-up and projects to preserve our environment.

How to Apply?

  • Download a grant application.
  • Read the grant guidelines; (pages 5 and 6)
  • Determine if you are eligible to apply for a grant (page 2)
  • Completely fill out the application and attach all requested items

HINTS FOR SUCCESS
Answer all 8 narrative questions, be specific and number your answers
Projects that collaborate with others to leverage impact receive special consideration
Projects that have impact with a small amount of money are encouraged

  • Submit application ASAP --- from September — DEADLINE IS Jan. 13, 2012.
  • Grant applicant interviews will be help on Jan. 28, 2012.
  • Grants are funded in Mar/Apr --- with one year to complete your project.
